CA Foundation Exam is the entrance level test in the Chartered Accountancy course and also it is replacing the existing entrance level CPT (Common Proficiency Test). It is part of revised curriculum announced by ICAI and taken into place w.e.f 1st July 2018.
Students those who want to pursue the Chartered Accountancy course after 12th examination can do so by passing the entrance level CA Foundation Exam. Exams for the Foundation course will start from May 2018 and conduct twice in a year similar with its other two levels i.e. CA Intermediate and CA Final in May and November.

Eligibility for Registration of CA Foundation May 2018
Candidates who wish to get enroll for the CA Foundation May 2018 course can do so after appearing in 10+2 examination conducted by an examining body constituted in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
Eligibility for Foundation Examination
Once the registration is completed for the CA Foundation course the student has to undergo for a study period of Four months and pass the 10+2 examination conducted by an examining body constituted in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
Students who wish to appear in May Examinations have to get themselves register before 30th Dec of the Previous Year and those who wish to appear in Nov examinations have to get themselves register before 30th June of the same year.
Students can fill the registration form for the CA Foundation course from the ICAI official portal under the student’s tab under course registration forms and making the payment of requisite fees. Once the payment is made successful the system will automatically generate the form which is required to get printed and submitted to the concerned regional office within 7 days of the online registration duly signed by the candidate.
Following documents are required to be submitted along with the hard copy of registration form –
- Attested copy of Admit Card / Marksheet of 12th examination issued by the respective board.
- Affix a recent colored photograph on the print out of the online registration form.
- In case of Foreigner student, then attested copy of proof of Nationality is also required to be submitted to the ICAI.
- Attested copy of the proof of special category certificate i.e. SC/ ST/ OBC or differently abled.
- Attested copy of 10th Marksheet / Admit card indicating the Name and DOB.
Once the above formalities are completed study material will be dispatch to the students within one month to the centralised dispatch system.
Registration in the CA Foundation course is a one time procedure which means that one the registration is done it is valid for the three years and even after three years it can be re validated any number of times for next three years by making the payment of nominal fees as decided by the council.

CA Foundation Application Form
Registration in the CA Foundation course does not mean that you will be eligible to appear in the Foundation Examination. Candidates have to fill the Exam Application form to appear in the Foundation examination from the ICAI portal (www.icaiexam.icai.org) by logging to your dashboard along with the requisite examination fees.

Students who could not fill the CA Foundation Exam Application form upto 26th Feb 2018 will have to deposit the late fees of Rs 600/- (in case of Indian centers) and US$ 10 (in case of overseas center) along with the examination fees.
The time table for May 2018 Foundation examinations has already been issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The exams for the Foundation course will conduct from 10th May 2018 and end on 16th May 2018 consisting of four papers two of which is subjective and other two are objective.
